(No. B/75) Ms M. R. Collet (First Member for Rodrigues) asked the Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs and External Communications, Minister of Finance, Minister for Rodrigues and Outer Islands whether, in regard to Rehabilitation Youth Centres (RYCs), he will – (a) for the benefit of the House, obtain information as to the number thereof operating across mainland Mauritius and Rodrigues, indicating the number of – (i) officers posted at each Centre, and (ii) youth admitted in each Centre over the past 3 years, and (b) state if he has been made aware of difficulties faced for the admission of youth in RYC in Rodrigues over the past 3 years, indicating the assistance being envisaged for the operationalisation thereof.
Madam Speaker, with regard to part (a) of the question, I am tabling the information requested by the hon. Member. It is a long answer. Regarding part (b) of the question, Prisons and Reform Institutions in Rodrigues fall under the responsibility of the Rodrigues Regional Assembly, as outlined in the Rodrigues Regional Assembly Act. So, the question should be addressed to the Assembly.
