Savabaddy (First Member for Port Louis North & Montagne Longue) asked the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare whether, in regard to the recent increase in cases of abuse in shelters, juvenile delinquency, repeated escapes from probation hostels and indiscipline in schools, she will state if consideration will be given to amending the Children’s Act 2020 to facilitate the detention of juvenile offenders in such cases in Rehabilitation Youth Centres.
