(No. A/1) Dr. F. Aumeer (Third Member for Port Louis South & Port Louis Central) asked the Minister of National Infrastructure whether, in regard to the lands located in the vicinity of the Tory Crown Land, he will, for the benefit of the House, obtain information as to where matters stand regarding the proposed raising of the banks thereat and reconstruction of bridges along same.
Reply: I have to inform the House that the National Development Unit launched two bidding exercises in 2022 for the construction of storm drains and provision of retaining walls at Nazareth, Tranquebar. However, due to the unresponsiveness of bids, the exercises were cancelled. Subsequently, the project was allocated to the Drains Infrastructure Construction Ltd, in November 2022, for its implementation. The Drains Infrastructure Construction Ltd appointed a consultant for the preparation of bidding documents and for supervision of works. Bids were invited for the appointment of a contractor in April 2024 and financial clearance was sought from the Ministry of Finance. On 16 June 2025, since the Ministry of Finance has requested that the bidding process be cancelled, a new bidding exercise will be carried out based on a revised cost estimate in this financial year. Regarding the reconstruction of bridges, the National Development Unit appointed a consultant to carry out a study and assess the hydraulic capacity of the bridges located along
130 Ruisseau du Pouce. A Preliminary Design Report has been submitted by the consultant on 23 June 2025 and approval of Land Drainage Authority has been sought accordingly. RIVULET ST LOUIS RESERVE, PAILLES – POULTRY PEN – ACTIONS
