Mr Gunness

Madam Speaker, I am informed by the Road Development Authority that the maintenance and embellishment of roundabouts located along motorways and classified roads are undertaken either by private companies, government entities or local authorities. Roundabout sponsorship is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis for an initial period of three years with renewal possibilities subject to the satisfaction of the RDA. Presently, there is a total of 158 roundabouts located on motorways and classified roads. Details regarding sponsorship are as follows –

48 (i) Out of the 40 roundabouts situated along motorways, 34 are being embellished and maintained through a sponsorship by private companies, and (ii) Out of 118 roundabouts located on classified roads, 61 are sponsored by private companies. With regard to part (a) (i) and (a) (ii) of the question, with your permission Madam Speaker, I am tabling the information as requested by the hon. Member, in respect of the list of roundabouts sponsored by private companies. I am also tabling information as requested in part (b) of the question regarding the remaining roundabouts not embellished and maintained by private companies, namely 6 on motorways and 57 on classified roads.
