(No. B/568) Mr K. Rookny (Third Member for Pamplemousses & Triolet) asked the Minister of Financial Services and Economic Planning whether, in regard to the Group Pensions Department of the State Insurance Company of Mauritius Ltd., she will, for the benefit of the House, for the year 2024, obtain information as to the – (a) number of officers recruited thereat, grade-wise, and 68 (b) annual revenue and expenditure thereof.
Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am informed by the State Insurance Company Ltd. (SICOM) that with regard to part (a) of the question, four officers at clerical level were recruited in the year 2024 to replace three officers who had retired and one who had resigned. With regard to part (b) of the question, I am informed that the SICOM administers three-pool pension funds under different legislations – 1. The Statutory Bodies Pension Funds set up under the Statutory Bodies Pension Funds Act and relevant regulations; 2. The SICOM Pool Private Pension Fund set up under the Private Pension Schemes Act, and 3. The Public Sector Defined Contribution Pension Fund (Public DC) set up under the Statutory Bodies Pension Funds Act and the Pensions Act. The revenue of the three pension funds amounted to Rs8.6 billion for the year 30 June 2024 and the expenditure amounted to Rs5.2 billion.
