QUEEN VICTORIA – TAXIS OPERATORS – ENQUIRY
(6.30 p.m.) QUEEN VICTORIA – TAXIS OPERATORS – ENQUIRY Mr C. Ramkalawon (Third Member for Flacq & Bon Accueil): Madam Speaker, my request is addressed to the hon. Minister of Land Transport. Will the hon. Minister kindly investigate into the number of taxis operating in the locality of Queen Victoria whereby my constituents have complained that despite adequate taxi licences having been allocated, few are actually operational causing prejudice to the inhabitants who have only taxis as means of public transport? Please, consider.
Yes, certainly Madam Speaker. I will certainly ask the NLTA to conduct an enquiry and take remedial measures as needed.
Yes, Mr Beechook! (6.31 p.m.) LAND CONVERSION - APPLICATIONS - BACKLOG Mr R. Beechook (Second Member for Flacq & Bon Accueil): My request is addressed to the hon. Minister of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy and Fisheries. Can the hon. Minister, please, look into the backlog in the number of people who have applied for land conversion which is taking months and months and people complained because very often they have bank loans which have been approved which lapsed because they haven’t received their land conversion? The Minister of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy and Fisheries (Dr. A. Boolell): I take on board, Madam Speaker, what my hon. friend is saying but this is also a matter that has to be properly scrutinised. More so, when we talk of land conversion, we have to make sure that the process is being done as should be but I take on board what you have suggested.
Thank you, hon. Minister. We are done. Thank you. At 6.35 p.m., the Assembly was, on its rising, adjourned to Tuesday 06 May 2025 at 11.30 a.m.
