The Deputy Speaker

Yes!

Mr Apollon

I was hoping that one day we will see a Mauritian player at Anfield, but I do not think so. Will the hon. Minister state to the House when the contract was signed, the duration of the contract and if this contract will be reconsidered?

Mr Nagalingum

Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, the contract was signed in June 2019 between Mauritius Multisports Infrastructure Ltd. and Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Ltd. The contract is due to expire on 31 May 2025. So, Government has decided that the existing agreement between Mauritius Multisports Infrastructure Ltd. and Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Ltd. will not be renewed upon its expiry. The Mauritius Multisports Infrastructure Ltd. has been requested to work on winding up procedures and arrangements. The Ministry of Youth and Sports is presently working on suitable alternatives that will replace the Liverpool Football Club International Academy.
