Reply: While my Ministry has at heart the wellbeing of the population of the Republic of Mauritius, I wish to inform the House that as at present there is need to have more focused consultations with the Rodrigues Administration for a modern hospital in Rodrigues to meet the needs of its population. My Ministry continues, however, to collaborate closely with the Rodrigues Regional Assembly through the Prime Minister's Office to support the strengthening of existing health services on the island, in line with identified needs and available resources. I intend to conduct a site visit to Rodrigues with high officials of my Ministry to take cognisance of the health services thereat.
