The Prime Minister

Madam Speaker, I am informed by the Financial Crimes Commission that the investigation into the case of alleged money laundering in dangerous drugs related cases involving Mr G.M, was, in fact, initiated in September of last year. On 26 February 2026, the Commission carried out a search operation at the residence of Mr G.M. in Petite Rivière and seized a sum of Rs1,074,725 in cash and six vehicles, and therefore, proceeded to arrest him. On 27 February 2026, a provisional charge of money laundering was lodged before the District Court of Bambous against Mr G.M., and he was remanded to police cell. On 05 March 2026, Mr G.M. was released on bail upon furnishing two sureties amounting to Rs500,000 and entered into a recognizance of Rs3,000,000. Madam Speaker, the Financial Crimes Commission is pursuing its investigation into the money laundering case, financing of drug dealing and asset recovery.

Madam Speaker

Come with your question, please.

Mr Babajee

...supplying hard drugs in the west. My question is: will the hon. Prime Minister assure the House that there is no cover-up in the same investigation, and whether there will be more presence of the ADSU in the west, in that particular area?

Madam Speaker

In that area?

Mr Babajee

Yes.

Madam Speaker

Yes, hon. Prime Minister!

The Prime Minister

We will take very harsh measures if there are interventions. There are no interventions. We are not living in the MSM period where intervention was happening all the time. With this Government, no intervention by whomever here! Secondly, ADSU has already increased its patrol in that area.

Madam Speaker

Patrol in that area. Yes, hon. Baboolall! PLASTIC BOTTLED PRODUCTS – EXCISE DUTY – ESTIMATED REVENUE COLLECTION
