(No. B/1020) Mr T. Apollon (Second Member for Mahebourg & Plaine Magnien) asked the Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs and External Communications, Minister of Finance, Minister for Rodrigues and Outer Islands whether, in regard to the Government Gazette, including the Legal Supplement thereof, he will, for the benefit of the House, obtain from the Government Printing Department, information as to whether consideration will be given for same to be made available online and, if so, when and, if not, why not.
Madam Speaker, this is a very good proposition and I am sure the hon. Member will be glad to know that on 29 April of this year, the contract for the e- Government Gazette Project has been awarded to nVisionIT Ltd for the total amount of Rs9,760,000 which includes maintenance charges for five years. The contract Agreement for the Project was signed on 25 May 2026. The e-Government Gazette Project consists of a web-based e-Government Gazette, including its Legal Supplement and Online Library Information Service. Some of the components of the e-Government Gazette are as follows – i. an online subscription to the Government Gazette including its Legal Supplement for both local and international subscribers; ii. an online library comprising Government Gazettes including again Legal Supplements accessible to both local and international customers, but against payment where applicable, and iii. an online processing and payment for publications in the Government Gazettes. The contractual duration for the implementation of the Project is 15 months as from 25 May of this year. The e-Government Gazette is, therefore, expected to be functional by September 2027, when all the services will be available online.
