The question, as placed

(No. B/17) Mr K. Lobine (First Member for La Caverne & Phoenix) asked the Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs and External Communications, Minister of Finance, Minister for Rodrigues and Outer Islands whether, in regard to the Chagos Archipelago, he will state whether his office has been formally notified of the statement made by the President of the Republic of Maldives on 2 February 2026, indicating – (a) the diplomatic and legal measures being envisaged/taken by Government following same, and (b) how same may impact the – (i) Chagos Archipelago treaty signed in May 2025 between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Mauritius, and (ii) issue on maritime boundary contained in the 2023 ruling of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.
